4B Adult Psychiatry

The Inpatient Psychiatric Unit (4B) is a 24-bed adult psychiatric unit located at the Downtown Campus. It was established to admit voluntary and involuntary patients, 18 years and over, with major psychiatric diagnoses.

The treatment philosophy for the inpatient unit is to provide a comprehensive bio-psychosocial plan of care utilizing psychopharmacology, group and individual psychotherapy, therapeutic activities, occupational therapy, and psychoeducational groups within a therapeutic milieu. Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) is available as a treatment when clinically indicated.
